Given that the Syrian conflict and the rise of Daesh are, at least in part, the result of the West’s previous interventions in the Middle East and the campaign to undermine the Syrian government, and given that some of our allies (eg Turkey) have been proven to be active enablers of Daesh should our leaders not step back and allow the Syrians and their Russian, Iranian and Lebanese allies to put an end to Daesh?
This article at Dissident Voice: http://dissidentvoice.org/2015/10/deconstructing-the-nato-narrative-on-syria/ is well researched, referenced and informative. It refutes the poisonous propaganda against Bashar al-Assad and the Syrian government. This propaganda has been spewed not only by the warmongers on the political Right but also by prominent figures on the Left such as Owen Jones. The anti Assad narrative serves the warmongers because it de-legitimises the Syrian government and supports illegal interventions in Syria and into Syrian affairs by the US and its allies. The author has collated evidence that shows that Assad, the Syrian Government and the Syrian Arab Army have the support of the vast majority of Syrians and are fighting to protect the people of Syria.
The Syrian government of Assad is the representative of the Syrian people until they choose differently and deserves the support of those who are against US and Saudi imperialism and against their tool Daesh.
